Snetterton 300,14/15 September 2019

The team were back with BMCRC for the trip across to Norfolk and the Snetterton300 circuit.

Glorious weather blessed the team for the entire race weekend. Whilst the racers do well in the wet conditions, having sunshine and warmth makes for a far more enjoyable time at the track! Friday test day went well for Andy, whilst Talan spent the day instructing. Both riders were looking to improve on previous times and enjoy competing on track.

Saturday saw Andy drop into the 2.02s, a new personal best by some margin. His ten lap race gave him time to make up ground from the back of the grid, and enjoy a four way battle for the second half of the race. Swapping positions numerous times, he finally crossed the line second of the group he had been dicing with, which placed him 26th overall with a well earned 8th in class.

Talan was out twice on Saturday with five lap races, both races saw him enjoying close racing with his old adversary Dave Saunders. Once he had managed to clear Dave he did, however, show him a clean pair of heels and pull a good gap. Although not beating his previous best time, he did get close, despite continued issues with the electronics that meant the quick shifter no longer worked.

Sunday brought more tight racing for the two team members, although an electrical fault causing the pit lane limiter to remain on meant that Andy had to pull over at the end of the pit lane before he got to the start of the second race. In the first race of the day he managed to increase his speed once again and dipped into the 2.01s for the lap, a truly incredible feat for someone with limited movement on the bike.

Talan also pushed the bike and beat his previous best by a second, dropping down into the 2.07s. He believes that with a working quick shifter that could have gone down another second. A 7th in class for Andy and two 11th places for Talan has given them good points for their appropriate championships going into the final round in October.

The weekend of 5/6 October sees the team head back to Brands Indy for the final BMCRC round. We welcome you all to come along to watch and support the racers, but also understand work commitments might not allow. We are hoping that some good performances will ensure the racers both finish in the top ten of the Clubman1000 and MRO600 championships, as we calculate they are both currently sitting in 8th position.
